In decades to come, images like these could be displayed in a museum. What will future generations make of ‘the great unlocking’?

In sunny Suffolk, Nick and his family are finally celebrating the Christmas they were unable to have
They had planned a festive celebration in December when escalating Covid infections caused a screeching government u-turn on gatherings
Now it’s crackers and turkey for Easter
It’s a jolly scene, but there are small tragedies here, which echo those experienced by almost everyone over the last year
The family haven’t been together like this since summer 2020, at least nine months ago
Nick, a 85 year old veteran and MBE, was presented with his honour last year, but unable to attend a ceremony
And his daughter Zara, 60 and chief turkey carver, has never met her granddaughter, Maisy, born in China early last year to her son Matt and his partner
For new parents like Bianca, the last year has been beyond surreal
Her son Luca is just one. She remembers the strangeness of his birth: born on Sunday, they left hospital on Thursday, and lockdown began the following Sunday
