    When I was 17 or 18 years old I saw on American TV at the US Naval Base in Guantánamo Bay, a young woman with a careless mane who sang a blues and kicked the stage with despair.
   With a heartrending, almost masculine voice, she seemed to shout her rage at the world and implore a God who had abandoned her. It was impressive.
   Later I found out her name: Janis Joplin and that was a scene from the famous Woodstock festival where other artists like Jimmy Hendrix, Santana, etc. took part. But I stayed with that American Rock and Roll singer and I started looking for data from her.
   Janis Joplin was a young woman with a rebellious spirit who considered herself ugly. It was the female symbol of the 60's counterculture. The short life of Janis Joplin left a great legacy not only for music, but also for the female figure, managed to rebel against many stereotypes of the time, spoke openly about the sexual issue and managed to play millions of souls with their songs. We remember the history of this important artist.
  In September 1970 he moved to Los Angeles to record the album Pearl, on October 3, 1970 it was a great day of recording in the studio Sunset Sound Recorders, as a celebration she left with a couple of friends to get drunk. On October 4, Janis did not appear in the studio, then the producer Phil Rothchil began to worry, he told John Cooke, administrator and representative of the band, and he went to her house to visit her.
  When he entered the room, Janis was lying next toher bed, on the floor. The cause of her death was an overdose of heroin, this episode had happened before, but this time nobody was at her side to help her. It is believed that the artist received a concentration higher than normal, on the other hand they claim that someone gave her the dose on purpose, but the truth is that at 1:45 p.m. from October 4, 1970 Janis Joplin passed away.
   Her creative essence, her emotional challenges, addiction to drugs and music as a source of escape made her one of the most outstanding female figures. I was not afraid to say what she thought, do what she wanted and be with who she wanted. She had many sexual partners and never hid from the world how she really felt, she was named as 'The Cosmic Witch' because of her way of performing on stage.

    Cuando  yo tenía 17 o 18 años vi  en la TV americana de la Base Naval norteamericana en la Bahía de Guantánamo a una joven  de melena descuidada que cantaba un blues y pateaba con desesperación el tablado.

   Con una voz desgarradora, casi masculina, parecia gritarle su rabia al mundo e implorar a un Dios que la había abandonado. Fue impresionante.

   Después me entere de su nombre Janis Joplin y aquella era una escena del famoso festival de Woodstock donde participaron otros artistas como Jimmy Hendrix, Santana, etc. Pero a mí se me quedo grabado a aquella cantante del Rock and Roll estadounidense y me puse a buscar datos de ella.

   Janis Joplin fue una joven de espíritu rebelde que se consideraba fea. Fue símbolo femenino dela contracultura de los 60. La corta vida de Janis Joplin dejó un gran legado no solo para la música, sino también para la figura femenina, logró rebelarse contra muchos estereotipos de la época, hablaba abiertamente sobre el tema sexual y logró tocar millones de almas con sus canciones. Recordamos la historia de esta importante artista.

  En septiembre de 1970 se trasladó a Los Ángeles para grabar el disco Pearl, el 03 de octubre de 1970 fue un gran día de grabación en el estudio Sunset Sound Recorders, como celebración salió con un par de amigos para embriagarse. El 04 de octubre Janis no apareció en el estudio, entonces el productor Phil Rothchil empezó a preocuparse, le comentó a John Cooke, administrador y representante de la banda, y él fue hasta su casa para visitarla.

Cuando entro a la habitación, Janis estaba tirada al lado de su cama, en el suelo. La causa de su muerte fue una sobredosis de heroína, este episodio ya le había sucedido antes, pero en esta ocasión nadie estaba a su lado para ayudarla. Se cree que la artista recibió una concentración más alta a la normal, por otro lado afirman que alguien le dio la dosis a propósito, pero lo cierto es que a la 1:45 p.m. del 04 de octubre de 1970  Janis Joplin falleció.

   Su esencia creativa, sus desafíos emocionales, la adicción a las drogas y la música como fuente de escape la convirtieron en una de las figuras femeninas más destacadas. No temía decir lo que pensaba, hacer lo que quería y estar con quien deseaba. Tuvo muchas parejas sexuales y nunca le ocultó al mundo cómo se sentía realmente, fue nombrada como ‘La Bruja Cósmica’ por su manera de interpretar en el escenario.
