COVID-19
Reactivation of herpes zoster, not genital herpes, has been a rare side effect for some who received the COVID-19 vaccine, medical experts say
Medical experts and science writers are clarifying that herpes zoster – more commonly known as shingles – should not be confused with genital herpes, which is an entirely different virus. The clarification comes after some media outlets circulated a case report released by scientists for Oxford Academic's British Society for Rheumatology, which found that six patients developed a skin rash after receiving the Pfizer vaccine. Medical experts added that shingles has been reported as a possible side effect for some people who have received the COVID-19 vaccine.
