La epopeya de Los Andes fue protagonizada por chiquilines de los sectores más ricos de la sociedad. Muchachos de élite, sin vuelta ni matices. Sin embargo todos estamos orgullosos de que sean uruguayos. Es un historia que siempre me emocionó, entre otras cosas por sus visos de heroísmo. Puede que en el Uruguay haya recelos de clase y también consciencia de las diferencias de clase, pero no hay ni debe haber odio ni grieta. Para mí, no es poca la diferencia y hace a las particularidades de esta sociedad que hemos construido.
The epic of Los Andes was carried out by children from the richest sectors of society. Elite guys, without twists or nuances. However, we are all proud that they are Uruguayans. It is a story that always moved me, among other things because of its hints of heroism. There may be class misgivings in Uruguay and also awareness of class differences, but there is and should not be hatred or rift. For me, there is no small difference and it makes the particularities of this society that we have built.
