Tras partir de un turismo “en base cero” debido a la pandemia por el coronavirus, el ministro interino destac贸 la importancia de haber recuperado 12 aerol铆neas y 16 destinos para que Uruguay llegue a ocupar dicho puesto en el r谩nking de la OMT.
Otros pa铆ses de Latinoam茅rica que lideran la recuperaci贸n del turismo fueron El Salvador (con un 35% m谩s de turistas a noviembre de 2023 con relaci贸n a 2019), Colombia (en 2023 creci贸 23% en la llegada de turistas internacionales con relaci贸n a 2019), Rep煤blica Dominicana (registr贸 un crecimiento de 21% en relaci贸n con el 2019) y Honduras (ubicada por debajo de Uruguay, en donde registraron un crecimiento de 17% en la llegada de turistas internacionales en comparaci贸n al 2019).
